Winter is here in Atlanta, and I find I enjoy the indoors more if I focus on improving my art techniques. Today, I am painting this new orchid, Ophelia. I teach acrylic/watercolor/mixed media classes and workshops in the Atlanta area. Call or email me for more information: Jill Morris/770-656-7246/morrisartscool@gmail.com.

In class, we focus on the FUN, RELAXING process of painting in the moment, while learning about the elements and principles of design.

Healing by painting on the Water

Have you read, Water Crystal Healing by Masaru Emoto? Dr. Emoto explains in his book, that for centuries, people have turned to classical music for its calming and relaxing effects. Dr. Emoto has discovered that the rhythm, tempo, tone and melody can correct distorted frequencies within our cells, assisting in health and healing. In his books, (translated in 25 languages), Dr. Emoto explains Hado (life-force vibration).

It is my opinion that listening to music while painting on the water or thinking of water multiplies the life-force entering our bodies. At this time, I cannot prove this theory, but only blog about my experiences as an art teacher who teaches on the water.

I teach art lessons on my houseboat at Lake Lanier, GA, and at Siesta Key, Florida. I have a BA in biology/teaching from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA and my M.Ed. science/math from KSU, GA. In addition, I have been painting for more than 30 years. The reason I give you my credentials, is to inform you that scientifically I am trained, and skeptical of why painting on the water helps me heal. Am I tapping into the natural healing powers of God? The life-force vibration? What exactly is happening when I listen to music and paint on the water?

I have written scientific papers so I know I am rambling now. Instead of proving my theory, I will blog. My blogging is just getting it all out there...not thinking too much. I would love to hear what YOU have researched about healing/water/art.

Why do I care? Last week, I had more than 4 students who were not well, but as they painted on the water, or painted water, they began to feel better. To prove painting water or on the water helped them, would be a difficult experiment to control. I can only imagine the variables. It is my experience however, that people painting water, or painting near the water, feel more Hado flowing through them. They feel calmer, more relaxed. As I said, this is my experience. Painting Orchids

Painting Orchids, Orchids, Orchids...even if it is SNOWING in ATLANTA....xxoo

It snowed this week on my son, BenMinis' birthday, March 1,2010, but that didn't stop my art students from coming to class on March 2....we had a fun day painting orchids...orchids are my latest pasion...have you REALLY looked at an orchid? If not, put on Pandora.com, new age, nature sounds, and look deep into the orchid...it has a persons's face in there...you will be mesmerized...painting takes you into the right side of your brain where endorphins are released...it is like a drug...love this peaceful, relaxing state...if you don't paint, you should try it...check out morrisartscool.ning.com for class times...in April, 2o10, we will be painting at the Starry Night Houseboat on Lake Lanier, in the Atlanta area, and this summer at the LeLu Coffee House in Sarasota, Florida....make time in your schedule for art......Enjoy EVERYDAY life!! xxoo

Artful Blogging

I just finished a magazine by Somerset Studios called Artful Blogging...love this beautiful, visual magazine. I think that most artists are visual, maybe that is why writing is such a chore for me.

I am going to end this blog and visit several sites it mentioned in the magazine in hopes that it helps me improve my sites: morrisartscool.ning.com and Jilly Willy Art on Facebook. I am still searching for a way to express all the emotions I feel. Why? Sometimes I wish I didn't care so much, but I am in hopes that I can connect with others on this path and help to take you higher...make you smile along the way too! xxoo

I am working on a facebook page called Jilly Willy Art. My passion is to help others discover the art path and focus on the journey and the process rather than the product. After teaching art in the Atlanta area for the past 11 years, I find beginners to be more concerned with the final product. They seem so concerned with the final product that they allow stress into the making of art...this defeats the whole purpose of making art to me...art to me, is about destressing!!

For me, art is an outlet...a way to escape the left side of the brain (a very chatty, critical side of myself)...In fact, I don't think I could survive Earth if I didn't have my art. Being in the right side of the brain releases endorphins that help you relax. It makes me feel less stressed out. My goal is to help others find this release from stress...my way is through art...there are many ways.

You can find out about my art classes by going to Jilly Willy Art on facebook.....I hope to meet you either in class or online!!
