Winter is here in Atlanta, and I find I enjoy the indoors more if I focus on improving my art techniques. Today, I am painting this new orchid, Ophelia. I teach acrylic/watercolor/mixed media classes and workshops in the Atlanta area. Call or email me for more information: Jill Morris/770-656-7246/morrisartscool@gmail.com.

In class, we focus on the FUN, RELAXING process of painting in the moment, while learning about the elements and principles of design.

Healing by painting on the Water

Have you read, Water Crystal Healing by Masaru Emoto? Dr. Emoto explains in his book, that for centuries, people have turned to classical music for its calming and relaxing effects. Dr. Emoto has discovered that the rhythm, tempo, tone and melody can correct distorted frequencies within our cells, assisting in health and healing. In his books, (translated in 25 languages), Dr. Emoto explains Hado (life-force vibration).

It is my opinion that listening to music while painting on the water or thinking of water multiplies the life-force entering our bodies. At this time, I cannot prove this theory, but only blog about my experiences as an art teacher who teaches on the water.

I teach art lessons on my houseboat at Lake Lanier, GA, and at Siesta Key, Florida. I have a BA in biology/teaching from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA and my M.Ed. science/math from KSU, GA. In addition, I have been painting for more than 30 years. The reason I give you my credentials, is to inform you that scientifically I am trained, and skeptical of why painting on the water helps me heal. Am I tapping into the natural healing powers of God? The life-force vibration? What exactly is happening when I listen to music and paint on the water?

I have written scientific papers so I know I am rambling now. Instead of proving my theory, I will blog. My blogging is just getting it all out there...not thinking too much. I would love to hear what YOU have researched about healing/water/art.

Why do I care? Last week, I had more than 4 students who were not well, but as they painted on the water, or painted water, they began to feel better. To prove painting water or on the water helped them, would be a difficult experiment to control. I can only imagine the variables. It is my experience however, that people painting water, or painting near the water, feel more Hado flowing through them. They feel calmer, more relaxed. As I said, this is my experience.
